A brief history

In 1839, The National School for the Parishes of Bearsted,Thurnham, Detling, and part of Boxley, was opened on the original site, overlooking The Green in Bearsted. Being a Church Foundation, the name was changed in due course to Bearsted Church of England School. In 1972 the school moved to its present site. A new four classroom extension was opened in 1991. Further extensions have taken place in subsequent years.

The school became Grant Maintained in April 1993 and Foundation in 1999. Roseacre was awarded Beacon Status in the year 2000 for its excellence in education.
